Frequently Asked Questions
 

​Do you charge an admission fee?

Yes, we charge a daily admission fee of $15 (as of 2025). We accept cash as well as debit and credit cards.

How is video adjudication delivered?

Video adjudication is sent online through a sign-in link to studios, typically available within a couple of days after the competition ends.

 

How do we get a program?

Preliminary schedules are sent to studio representatives a few months before the event to verify entries. Final schedules are released prior to the event. Each studio will receive a digital copy of its performance and the competition program. Printed copies will be available for purchase at the merchandise table, and all attending teachers will receive a free printed program.

 

What does your competition schedule look like?

Competition schedules may vary based on the number and types of entries. Our competitions typically last six days, but this may change depending on registration numbers. We reserve the right to make any changes to the schedule.

 

Do you ever run ahead of schedule?

Please arrive early to ensure you don’t miss your dancer's performance.  We will never start a session earlier than scheduled however within a session we can be running ahead of schedule.

 

Do you ever run behind schedule?

Occasionally, unforeseen circumstances may cause delays, but we will do our best to stay on time.

 

Do you accept independent entries?

No, please register through your studio.

How do your scholarships and awards work?

  • Top Performer and runner up awards along with Specialty Awards are presented on stage after the Dance Off at the end of the competition. 

  • Dancers receive certificates and, if applicable, cash awards.

  • Additional awards and scholarships are given to the studio directors at the end of the competition to pass along to dancers.

  • Scholarships change each year.  A full list of scholarships and awards will be listed in the program.

Will there be photos of performances?

Yes! Professional photos from Piper Sports Photography will be available throughout the competition. Computers in the lobby allow you to log in and save your favorite images for easy checkout.

Do you sell apparel?

Yes! We offer a selection of clothing at our merchandise table on a first-come basis. We accept cash and credit cards.

​

When do the doors open?

Venue doors open one hour prior to the first session of the day, unless otherwise noted on your schedule.

​

What is the Specialty Award Presentation?

This presentation occurs directly after the Dance Off and features judges and the competition director awarding top honors from the weekend, totaling over $10,000 in prizes and scholarships. We strongly encourage everyone to attend and support each other.

​

I am a parent; am I allowed backstage?

No, only staff, teachers, and dancers are allowed backstage. Exceptions may be made for parent chaperones or prop assistants as needed.

Do you assign dressing rooms?

Yes, each studio will have an assigned dressing room.

Dressing Room Rules:

  • No food or beverages other than bottled water

  • No photos or videos of any kind; security and privacy are our priorities

  • Be kind and considerate

How do you qualify for the Dance Off?

The number of eligible groups will be based on the number of studios attending.  The top scoring groups from both the Mini/Junior (11 and under) and Teen/Senior (12 and older) categories will advance to the Dance Off. Only one group per age category per studio may advance.

Am I allowed to take photos or videos?

No, cameras of any kind are not permitted inside the auditorium. Violators risk disqualification of their studio entries. Photography and video are allowed during awards sessions.

​

Lost & Found

Lost items are collected throughout the event and taken to the admission/merchandise table. Any items not claimed will remain at TCU Place and can be found at the Box Office after the event.
